Your skincare routine should be as unique as you are, but that doesn’t mean it has to be complicated! If you’re looking to take your regimen up a notch this summer, try incorporating some of these ideas into your daily skincare routine to keep your skin healthy and glowing all season long.
1) Stay hydrated
Summer days tend to be more humid than winter days, so it’s important to stay hydrated. Hydration gives your skin a nice, dewy, luminous quality. Water is good for you too, so drink up! Remember that what you put into your body has an effect on how it looks—so eat lots of water-rich fruits and veggies. (See tip #7.)
2) Protect yourself from the sun
Most of us are aware that UV rays can cause harmful sunburns, but some people underestimate what too much time in the sun can do to your skin. A recent study found that 90 percent of melanomas (the deadliest form of skin cancer) occur on parts of our body exposed to sunlight. To protect yourself from harmful rays and premature aging, apply sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to all exposed areas every morning. Remember to re-apply every two hours or after swimming or sweating.
