10 Tips for Running in the Heat Without Hating It

3) Wear Light, Loose Clothing

When you’re running outside, it’s important to wear clothing that is light and loose. The less clothing you have on your body, the better your ability to regulate heat will be. For example, during a hot day I typically wear shorts, a short-sleeved shirt or tank top, socks and shoes. When it comes to running apparel you should wear moisture-wicking fabrics that help keep you cool.

4) Layer for Temperature Control

Even though you’re going to be moving and therefore getting some air flow, it’s still going to get hot out there. To minimize overheating, wear light layers that can be taken off or put on as necessary. Choose lightweight fabrics like cotton that breathe well.
