10 Steps to Living a Healthy and Active Life

5) Drink more water

Humans need at least 64 ounces of water per day—more if you live in a hot climate or exercise frequently. Stick with pure, filtered water as much as possible; many bottled waters are simply local tap water with added minerals. Stay hydrated by drinking regularly throughout your day. If you’re looking for flavor, try adding citrus slices or fruit slices to your water bottle.

6) Keep healthy snacks handy

Don’t let yourself get hungry, because you’re more likely to make poor food choices when you are. Stock your fridge with fresh fruit, veggies and whole grains that can be easily prepared when you feel hunger coming on. Pack healthy snacks in plastic containers or bags so they’re ready to grab if you need them. Make sure they aren’t hidden in an out-of-the-way spot where they will be easy to forget.
